Floyd Taylor Re-Signs For 17/18!

Swindon Wildcats are thrilled to announce the return of 22-year old British forward Floyd Taylor as the latest addition to the 2017/18 roster. The former GB U18s captain joins Aaron Nell, Stevie Lyle, Stevie Whitfield, Sam Bullas, Toms Rutkis and Jan Kostal on next year’s team.

Last season was Floyd’s most productive in Swindon in terms of points with him scoring 4 goals and 9 assists for 13 points in 46 games. However, it was his high-energy hockey and strong two-way game that led to Aaron Nell awarding him the Most Improved Player trophy at the end of season presentation night.

Speaking to Wildcats Social Media & Sports Editor Ben Callaghan, Floyd was thrilled to be confirming his Swindon career continues for at least one more season.

“I was really happy when Aaron asked me back to the club for next season. I have been at the club for a long time now and I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else. I like the setup in Swindon and we always have a great group of guys to be around.

I was happy with how the second half of the season went for me. I thought I improved a lot and proved myself in a lot of key roles. I hope next year I can build on where we left off and contribute with more goals and points.”

Aaron Nell was undeniably thrilled to have the Swindon-born forward back in Swindon colours next season.

“Floyd had a big season last year. He had a bad injury early on but then with all the injuries we had his role got bigger as the year went on and by the end of the season was a top player for us and one that was also very underrated. I’m delighted Floyd wants to carry on playing for Swindon and will have a bigger role next season.

I think last year it was his biggest season in Swindon. His consistency was a big plus for him. He wasn’t always the most consistent of players and he filled a role of being a very responsible centreman. He was one of my top penalty killers last year and he was a big part of our team and I know he determined to keep on improving and he’s the perfect match for us.”

The third line of Sam Bullas, Floyd Taylor and Toms Rutkis was a big positive last season and something Coach Nell wants to install again next season.

“I’ve talked to Floyd and Bully and with the league changes they’re going to have an even bigger role. In the play-offs that line of Bully/Floyd/Toms was probably our best line. Bully and Floyd are players I want playing against top lines and top players next year trying to shut them down.”
