Hazeldine Joins The Wildcats

Swindon Wildcats are thrilled to announce another new face to the 2017/18 roster! Joseph Hazeldine will be joining the Wildcats for the upcoming campaign.

The 16 year old defenceman will be on a two-way deal with the Nottingham Panthers allowing him to train with the EIHL side whilst getting valuable game time with the Wildcats. Having come through the junior system in Nottingham, this will provide Joseph with the ideal opportunity to develop his talents into senior hockey.

In the U18 league last year, he posted 25 goals and 21 assists in 18 games, as well as scoring 4 goals and 9 assists in 13 games for the Nottingham Leopards U20 team.

Speaking after his latest acquisition Player Coach Aaron Nell was delighted to have secured the services of one of the countries brightest young talents:

“We’re very excited to have Joe in Swindon especially on a two-way with Nottingham Panthers, it will be a great situation for him. He’s one of the top young players in the country and we’ve heard a lot of good things about him. When I watched, him play I was very impressed with what I saw.

He skates well and moves the puck really well, when he plays in juniors he’s got an offensive side of the game and I know that Nottingham are really impressed with him. Corey Neilson recommended him to me and I think he will in a great place to work with Corey and the Panthers and get important playing time in Swindon.

Joe can’t wait to get started in Swindon. This is his opportunity to be in a different situation and it would have been easy for him to stay in Nottingham but he wants to push himself and he’ll do that next season. I know he’s looking forward to getting started and he can’t wait to be here."
