Wildcats VS Fire 07/10/2017 Game Preview

With back to back four point weekends on the cards, the Wildcats return to the Better Link Centre this weekend with a league fixture against the Cardiff Fire. Sunday sees Aaron Nell and his troops venture back into London to take on the London Raiders at Lee Valley Ice Centre.

Last weekend was another perfect one in terms of results with a 7-4 victory on home ice over the Invicta Dynamos before Sunday saw a narrow 2-1 victory in Streatham against Jeremy Cornish’s Redhawks. Goals on Saturday from TCL’s Jan Kostal, Chris Jones, Neil and Vicky Davidson’s Max Birbraer, Limelight’s Jordan Kelsall and Red Kite Building Services Phil Hill were enough to keep the points in Swindon.

On Sunday, TCL’s Aaron Nell and Shannon & Harry Priest’s Sam Bullas gave us the goals to secure the points returned to Swindon.

Cardiff coming to town have had a tough start to the season so far, failing to pick up a point so far. However, with names like Alex Symonds, Sam Smith, Nicky Chinn and Callum Buglass in the ranks; they will not be easy opponents on Saturday.

Last weekend the Fire had a double-header weekend with the Peterborough Phantoms. They lost in Peterborough on Saturday by a 13-1 margin, before on Sunday the Phantoms again managed a double figure score line with a 10-0 win.

Speaking to the Swindon Advertiser before the game Wildcats forward Chris Jones and Man Of The Match last Saturday said, “It’s always nice to contribute and to score goals because ultimately, the main goal is to get two points each game. It’s not about what I do, though, the win for the team is the most important thing”.
