Wildcats Named in 2014-15 All-Stars Teams

Forward and netminder make the cut.

Swindon Wildcats forward Aaron Nell and netminder Stevie Lyle who has recently been recalled to the GB squad, have been named in the Ice Hockey Journalists UK All Star teams for the 2014-15 season.

Oracle Contractors sponsored Nell was the only inclusion outside of the Telford Tigers in the First Team line-up, while soon to be player coach Lyle who is sponsored by Top Hat Entertainments, was named in the Second Team list which is chosen by members of the IHJUK, who have the important job in awarding the honours to players at the end of each season.

IHJUK is the custodian of the only Hall of Fame in UK ice hockey where personalities who are deemed to have made an 'outstanding contribution to the sport' have been inducted into the Hall by a specially elected sub-committee of IHJUK ever since 1986.

Speaking about his inclusion, Nell said:  “I’m honoured to have been included in this season All Star First Team.

“It’s been a great season for the Wildcats so my inclusion and that of Stevie [Lyle], is testament to the effort everyone in a Wildcats jersey has put in over the course of the campaign.

“It’s been a real squad effort to get the club where we are and it’s a privilege to see that my efforts have been recognised by those deciding the teams, and that they have seen fit to include me.”

Ice Hockey Journalists UK (IHJUK) was created in 1984 as the British Ice Hockey Writers Association to promote the interests of the sport and its writers, photographers and broadcasters.  The name was changed in 2006 to reflect the growth of both the sport and the media covering it.
