Malasinski Returns For Second Season

Import returns.

Swindon Wildcats player-coach Stevie Lyle today announced that Corvus Travel sponsored forward Tomasz Malasinski will be remaining with the club for the 2015-16 campaign.

Having joined the club in July 2014, the 28-year old left wing made 42 appearances for the club last season, scoring 32 goals and made 22 assists for 54 points with 65 penalty minutes, helping the club to the British Challenge Cup Semi Finals and Quarter Final stage of the Playoffs.

"Tomasz is a quality player, so I’m glad to have him back on the roster for the new season," said Lyle.  "He was one of the most consistent players for us last season and he is a great character to have both on and off the ice and his experience is invaluable.”

The player, who picked up the award for the Wildcats Forward of the Season at the End of Season Presentation, was also on the score sheet for Poland earlier this month when they faced Team GB.

Having begun as a junior with MMKS Nowy Targ, Malasinski began his senior hockey career with SMS I Sosnowiec in the second tier of the Polish game and over the following two seasons, featured for the national U18s and U20s sides.

A move to Polska Hokej Liga side Podhale Nowy Targ (now known as MMKS Podhale Nowy Targ) in the 2002-03 season saw his ability grow even further and in 2008-09, he broke in to the Senior Polish Men’s team where he has continued to feature ever since and he will be involved in the countries World Championship Division 1A tournament which gets underway in Krakow on April 19th.

His move to the Wildcats was his first venture outside of his native country and the club are delighted to have secured his services for a further season.

Malasinski becomes the first import confirmed on the 2015-16 Wildcats roster and joins Lyle, Aaron Nell and Stevie Whitfield on the list of players who will be with the club next term.

Sponsorship opportunities starting at just £5 are available for Tomasz.  For further information on how you or your business can get involved, please call Wildcats Marketing Manager Sally Price on 01793 886 857.
