Swindon Wildcats are thrilled to announce that fan favourite Max Birbraer will be returning to the team on a game-by-game basis for the 19/20 season.

Having originally made the decision to retire over the summer circumstances have allowed Max to make the return to Swindon as and when his schedule allows. This undoubtedly is a big boost for the Cats with the currently availability of Tyler Vankleef.

Not only will Max be returning to the line-up this weekend, but with the new rules from the EIHA regarding non-EIHA trained players, he will also be classed as a British player this season meaning he will be able to ice alongside Tomasz Malasinski and Jan Kostal.

Max, the leading point scorer in the NIHLS1 last year, needs no introduction to the Swindon fans who will be delighted to be able to sing their version of the White Stripes song once more this weekend.

Head Coach Aaron Nell was thrilled to have secured the services of Max once more this season:

We’re thrilled to be able to call up Max’s services again. Whilst he is only on a game-by-game basis whenever he ices for us he will have a big role to play and I’m very excited to be working with him again.

Obviously we’re disappointed not to have Tyler available right now, but to have brought Jan and Max back to Swindon gives us the perfect cover. With Toms being back and forth with Cardiff at the moment as well, it was important to cover ourselves at the start of the season.

Hopefully the fans will give Max a huge reception on Saturday when he ices against Telford.
