Steve began his hockey career in the 1981-82 season playing for the Crowtree Chiefs, Sunderland where he remained for a total of four season - a period which also saw him feature for the GB U20s.
In 1986, he moved to the Swindon Wildcats and over the following two seasons he went on to record some impressive stats, making 47 appearances, scoring 68 goals and 100 assists for 168 points.
He moved to the Solihull Barons in 1988-89 and spent one and a half seasons with the midlands based side, before returning to the Wildcats midway through the 1989-90 campaign.
He remained with the club until the start of the 1991-92 season, when a switch to the Basingstoke Beavers came about, but in a continuing theme, returned to Wiltshire two seasons later (1993-94) where he remained until the 1996-97 season before spending a year with the Oxford City Stars.
In 1997-98, he returned to the club under the franchise renamed Swindon Chill taking on a player-coach role before he took on a bench coach role the following year.
In total, Steve made 265 appearances for the club during a three spell playing career, scoring 254 goals and making 320 assists for 574 points.
After a break from hockey, Steve returned to the club in a General Manager-Coach capacity in 2004 before taking on the General Manager role the following season – a position he has retained ever since, improving the club year on year.
In the 2012-13 season, Steve combined his Wildcats role with the exciting new Swindon based Okanagan Hockey Academy (UK) and continues with the day-to-day running of both set-ups to this day.
