Bees Land Sting Despite Late ‘Cats Rally

Sunday night saw the Swindon Wildcats travel down the M4 as they looked to take on the Bracknell Bees in their final challenge fixture before the beginning of 2014/15 season. Having lost out the previous evening the ‘Cats were looking to rectify their ways, but a mis touch by netminder Stevie Lyle soon gave the home side the lead with just minutes gone. With just seconds to go Bracknell then went about doubling their lead, as forward Matt Towalski would find the net with a placed wrist shot.

A tight second period would see neither side net, despite both showing strong efforts in what was a tense middle 20 minutes.

However when the Bees found themselves with a powerplay in the 49th minute, it took a strike from import Pavel Strycek to give the hosts a 3-0 lead.
Despite being down with just over 15 minutes remaining, Swindon were not to shy away was Lee Richardson showed a good eye for goal to earn his side their first. After being supplied a pin point pass from fellow line mate Sam Bullas, Richardson would shoot the puck past netminder Alex Mettam for a 2-1 game.

Just 2 minutes later and a powerplay chance of their own then gave Swindon their second through import player/coach Jan Kostal. A quick pass from line mate Aaron Nell went about setting up the Czech player, who would fire in the puck to bring his side within one.

But with time against them, the home side would hold on and earn themselves a 3-2 victory despite a late rally by the visiting ‘Cats side.

A tough result means Swindon have seen both wins and losses over the pre-season challenge fixtures and now head into the 2014/15 campaign with the Chelmsford Chieftains awaiting them next Saturday evening.
