GB NEWS: IHUK Hold Strategy Workshop

Review on future of the sport in GB continues

Ice Hockey UK held a Strategy Workshop last week as it continues to work on a blueprint for the future of the sport in the UK.

The workshop follows on from the online and interview consultation which took place last year and was facilitated by Wharton Consulting.

One of the main headline findings from this process was the need for ice hockey in the UK to unite behind an agreed vision for the future of the sport.

All of the ice hockey leagues and governing bodies in the UK were represented at the workshop, which was held in York on Friday [February, 20th 2015], while there were also guests from across the ice hockey world.

One of the invited guests was the president of the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation, Christer Englund, who gave a presentation on the structure and strategy of the game in Sweden.

IHUK chairman, Jim Anderson, said: "This was a very important workshop as we look to drive the sport forward.

"Representatives from across the ice hockey community in the UK attended as we looked at how we could work together for the good of the game.

"It was fantastic that Christer [Englund] was one of the speakers and I am sure there is a lot we can learn from a great ice hockey nation such as Sweden."
