Flames Find Six-Cess Against 'Cats

Last Saturday evening the Swindon Wildcats saw their road trip weekend begin in defeat after suffering an eventual 6-2 scoreline to the hosting Guildford Flames.

The shot ridden first period would see both sides test opposing nets, however in doing so would cancel each other out after twenty minutes of play.

The second period however would not have to wait long to see the game's first goal, as Swindon's Tomas Kana would convert on a counter attack to beat a stretching James Hadfield in the crease.

However some responding pressure by the home side soon gave the Flames that tying goal, with Jez Lundin receiving the puck in front of net before beating Stevie Lyle from close range.

A minute later and Guildford's Danny Meyers would then be played in by team mate David Longstaff, with Meyers then finding the net with a quick wristshot.

Andy McKinney would then make it 3-1 for the home side in the 32nd minute, having been the right place for a rebound, before McKinney himself would then supply an across ice for Roman Tvrdon to find a final fourth goal of the period.

The opening to the third would soon see the Flames hold 5 on 3 powerplay and after using the extra men, Jez Lundin would eventually beat Lyle once more for a fifth goal. Despite gaining a man back, Swindon would then see Guildford find their final goal of the night with David Savage shooting from the right and netting a final powerplay goal.

A fifty-third minute powerplay chance would eventually give the 'Cats an opportunity of their own to net and one that would see team captain Jan Kostal see his one timed effort pass Hadfield for a 6-2 scoreline.

Both sides would battle to the final buzzer however with the established lead, Guildford would take the night's win for a home victory.

The Swindon Wildcats will now regather and head into Sunday evening, when they travel to Peterborough in hope of a night's win against the Phantoms.
