Aaron Pledges Another Season With Wildcats

Forward agrees contract extension

Oracle Contractors sponsored Aaron Nell has agreed to remain with the Swindon Wildcats for a further season and has signed a contract to keep him at the Swindon Ice Arena until the end of the 2015-16 season.

The 25-year forward becomes the first signature to be captured by Stevie Lyle, who is taking over the reign's from head coach Ryan Aldridge at the end of the current campaign.

"Aaron was always going to be my first signing," Lyle said after making the announcement on Monday afternoon [February, 23rd 2015].

"Every season I have watched him mature, becoming an even better player than he was the year before, and this season he has played great at both ends of the ice.

"He is a top British player who team mates rely on.

"Having Aaron in the side is like having an extra import in the roster and that is a massive plus and I'm looking forwards to working with him next season."

Having begun his career with the club affiliate Swindon Cougars back in the 2002-03 season, the player has gone on to gain experience in the Elite League with the Coventry Blaze and Sheffield Steelers, as well at all international levels from the GB U18s to the Senior side in recent years.

Upon signing his extension, Nell said: "It's a very exciting time at the Swindon Wildcats.

"I believe that we can build on this season and it's going to be another great chapter in the clubs history with Stevie [Lyle] taking charge.

"I'm really looking forwards to being involved in next years roster and will continue to work hard as part of whatever team Stevie builds, we can only get stronger as a team.

"I'd also like to thank Ryan [Aldridge] for the last six or seven years he's been coaching at the club.

"He has been the biggest part of my professional career and has been massive in growing the club and helping to make every aspect of it more professional."

The club have various sponsorship opportunities for the 2015-16 season available now.
