Floyd Back For Season Five

Centre continues With Cats

GB U20 International Floyd Taylor will continue wearing a white and red jersey next season, after the player agreed to remain at the Swindon Ice Arena for his fifth consecutive term.

Having begun his career in the clubs junior ranks, the 20-year old had his breakthrough season in 2011-12 when he featured 29 times in the clubs senior side and has gone on to make over 150 appearances since.

“Floyd missed an early part of last season with concussion but he is a solid, reliable player who I wanted back in the roster this season,” player coach Stevie Lyle said on releasing the news.

"I'm delighted to have him back, although still young, he brings a lot of experience to the ice.”

The signing means that Lyle now has 19 players committed to the club for the 2015-16 season and he concluded that his roster is almost complete.

“Floyd is the final player who was with us last season, who I’ve brought back to help us this year.

“It’s been a difficult decision but you have to make decisions and I wanted to freshen things up and part of the role involves making hard choices, it’s part of the game and as players, we all realise that.

“I’d like to thank Michael Crisp, Alex Symonds, Jonas Hoog, Tomas Kana and Shane Moore, who is retiring from the EPIHL game, for their services to the club over the years.  They’re all quality players who I’m sure will go on to get new deals elsewhere.

“Unfortunately with the changes I’ve made and the budget we have to work too, I couldn’t re-sign everyone, but each of them will be a valuable asset to which ever club takes them on, I wish them all the best for the future.”

With the difficult decisions made, Lyle confirmed that his own roster is very near completion.

“I’ve got two new faces that I’ll be announcing in the coming week and then I will start giving more focus on the new season.

“It’s been a new experience for me, but I’m happy with the players I’ve got and I’m no looking forwards to the next challenge of getting the plans working on the ice.

“I’m confident we’ll do well, but I’ll be keeping my feet on the ground and not get carried away.  As long as the players perform and stick to the plan, I think we’ll be alright.”
