Swindon Wildcats forward Toms Rutkis is determined to start the 2016/17 season with an almighty bang after agreeing to terms on a new deal with the club.

The hugely-talented 18-year-old put pen to paper on a one-year contract with the Cats earlier today, keeping him at the Swindon Ice Arena for a third successive campaign.

Rutkis - who plundered 64 points (43 goals, 21 assists) in just 14 outings for the Okanagan Hockey UK Academy during the 2014/15 campaign - is widely regarded as one of the hottest young prospects in British Ice Hockey and has established himself as a key player for the Wildcats.

Despite a slow start to last season, Rutkis well and truly found his groove after Christmas and produced a string of superb displays, finishing the term with 6 goals and 4 assists in 50 appearances.

Rutkis is now putting in the hard-yards in the gym in order to be fighting bit both physically and mentally by the time September finally arrives.
