Swindon Wildcats vs Solway Sharks double header preview
This weekend the Swindon Wildcats take the seven hour trip up to Dumfries where they play a double header against the Solway Sharks.
The Wildcats currently sit in 7th place in the NIHL, but have two/three games in hand over the teams above them. The Sharks currently sit just outside of a play-off spot in 9th but have a game in hand on the Pitbulls who are one point above them.
Last season the Cats had good success in Dumfries winning 3/3 games and they will be looking to replicate that this season. However the Sharks have improved from last season and proven already this season how strong they can be on their home ice.
They have won their last two games at home scoring 14 goals in those games with a lot of different players on the scoresheet, showing they have improved a lot on their squad depth.
Ones to watch this weekend:
Swindon Wildcats - Jake Bricknell
The Canadian forward has been on fire to start the season, with a average points pace of two points a game. He has 11 goals and 12 assists in just 11 games for the Cats and has proved to be a great signing for the team in the off-season. He has already establshed himself as a fans favouite and will look to carry on his points scoring form this weekend in Dumfries.
Solway Sharks - Nolan Gardiner
Nolan has lit up the league with goals, currently the leagues top scorer with 18 goals in just 13 games. Joint second in the league for points and has been a revelation for Martin Grubb's team. The Wildcats played the Sharks at the start of the season at the Link Centre and Gardiner scored two goals in that game.
It will be a tough test for the Wildcats who are looking to bounce back from last weekend but there will be many Wildcats making the trip up to Dumfries to support them.
