The Bespoke Guardians Swindon Wildcats secured their place in the Playoffs after a four point weekend, picking up wins on the road in Basingstoke before returning home to beat Hull on Saturday night.
Friday night saw the Wildcats edge out the Basingstoke Bison in a dramatic overtime finish. Swindon made a strong start, opening the scoring early through Aaron Nell before Chris Jones added a second to give the Wildcats a two goal advantage in the first period.
Basingstoke responded in the second, but Swindon continued to find the net with goals from Edgars Bebris and Caden Villegas to keep themselves ahead heading into the final period. The third period swung back and forth, with both sides trading goals as Aaron Nell and Logan vande Meerakker scored for the Wildcats, forcing the game beyond regulation.
In overtime, it was Edgars Bebris who sealed the win, scoring the decisive goal to hand Swindon a 7–6 victory and two vital points.
The Wildcats carried that momentum into Saturday night at the Link Centre against Hull Seahawks. Swindon took control early, with Tomasz Malasinski opening the scoring before Reed Sayers doubled the advantage later in the first period.
A dominant second period saw the Wildcats pull further clear, as Owen Griffiths, Logan vande Meerakker and Caden Villegas all found the scoresheet. Malasinski added his second of the night in the third period to cap off a commanding performance, as Swindon closed out a 6–1 win.
The two victories complete a four point weekend for the Wildcats and confirm their place in the Playoffs, with Swindon continuing to build momentum as the regular season heads towards its conclusion.
