With less than two months to go, excitement is building for the first ever Mfor Festival taking place on Saturday 27th July at Lydiard Park, Swindon.  Running from 11am to 10.30pm the one-day Mfor Festival – a family fun day meets music festival – will offer entertainment for all whilst supporting veteran, military and mental health charities.

With British synth-pop sensations Years & Years headlining as part of their world tour, the brand-new festival has a line-up to appeal to all ages.  Festival fans will be treated to performances including singer songwriter Ella Eyre, teen favourite HRVY, ‘The Voice’ star Becky Hill, alternative rock band Top Loader, dance music duo Phatts & Small and ‘X-Factor’ finalist and local Swindon boy Jahméne Douglas.

While the music programme has something for everyone, there is more than music to entertain the crowds on the day.  Vistors can:

–       try their hands at axe throwing

–       take on giant inflatables and climbing walls

–       test their skills on a state-of-the-art VR rifle range

–       enjoy displays of ex-military vehicles

–       meet the Mfor bear, the festival mascot

–       watch thrilling display from the Red Devils, the official parachute display team of the British Army and The Parachute Regiment.

The event founders are passionate about supporting former military servicemen and women and raising awareness of mental health issues, so fundraising will also take place during the day, for charities including ‘Walking with the Wounded’ and local Swindon community projects.

Event founder Graham Stobbs commented: “The charities we want to support are close to our hearts.  I’m passionate about fundraising to help ex-service personnel.  I’m about to take part in 222-mile kayak to raise funds for our local veteran’s hub in Swindon and to commemorate D-Day.  It is really important to me that Mfor Festival is a great way to have fun, enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Lydiard Country Park, and raise money for charity at the same time.”

Co-founder Debra Collins added: “We can’t wait to bring the party to Swindon next month.  We are so excited about the line-up and the amazing entertainment that will be on offer on the day.”
