Following the recent announcement that Swindon Wildcats long serving Stevie Whitfield will be back with the club for another two years, we are excited that he has agreed to be our guest on junior learn to play on Friday 31st May.

Stevie has been a huge part of the Swindon Wildcats for many years since progressing from the Swindon Wildcats Academy into the first team in 2011. He is a player who has achieved what many young participants on learn to play aim to do which is become a professional ice hockey player for his local club.

Dave Ridley, Swindon Wildcats in the Community said:“Stevie is a great player who has worked very hard throughout his career which started in Swindon representing the academy. He’s a great role model for any young player at any club but especially for the players here in Swindon, for him to give up his time to come and meet the players, give advice and have fun with everyone on the learn to play session is something you wouldn’t want to miss during the school holidays.”

Robbie Pamphilon who is a head coach for the Academy and the assistant coach for the Swindon Wildcats added that “I’m fortunate to have worked with Whits (Stevie Whitfield) for over 5 years, he is a great example of what can happen when you have the right attitude, hard work and determination.

I see many of his attributes in players currently on the junior session and am hopeful of seeing more players move to the wildcats first team in the coming years just like Floyd (Taylor), Loris (Taylor) and Sam (Godfrey) have done.”

For players looking to start ice hockey or to progress with their skating our Friday night learn to play sessions are the perfect start, especially with the first session being free and no experience required.
