The South West Is Red!

Four points, 14 goals, one huge weekend for the Wildcats!

This weeekend saw the Cats secure their first four-point weekend of the season, picking up back-to-back victories against Bristol Pitbulls and Solway IHC.

Friday night's South-West Derby saw the Cats produce a dominant performance, shutting out the Pitbulls 9-0. Swindon raced into an early lead with goals from Sean Richards and Reed Sayers, before further strikes from Liam Fraser, Ryan Wells, Caden Villegas, Matthew Vermaeten, and another two from Richards completed the scoring. The Wildcats also capitalised on penalties, scoring three power-play goals, while Renny Marr and the defence combined for a shutout victory.

The following evening brought a much sterner test on the road against Solway IHC. After Liam Fraser opened the scoring in the first period, Solway responded with three unanswered goals to take control of the game. However, the Wildcats showed plenty of character, battling back with a goal from Caden Villegas and a double from Matthew Vermaeten to draw level and then edge ahead.

With the game finely poised in the third period, Solway equalised to make it 4-4. As the clock ticked down, Dylan Lipsey produced the decisive moment, scoring at 57:11 to secure a dramatic 5-4 victory and complete the Wildcats' perfect weekend.

Across the two games, the Cats netted 14 goals, conceded just 4, and showcased both sides of their game: the attacking firepower that overwhelmed Bristol, and the resilience required to come back from behind and defeat Solway.

It was a weekend packed with goals, drama, and memorable moments, underlining exactly why this team is so exciting to watch!

Back at the Link Centre this Saturday!

The Wildcats return to home ice on Saturday to take on Solway IHC once again, looking to build on the momentum of a perfect weekend.

The night will be about more than just the action on the ice, as the club celebrates one of the greatest players ever to wear the red and white with the retirement of Tomasz Malasinski's jersey.

A fan favourite and true Wildcats legend, Malasinski created countless memories in red and white through his goals, leadership and outstanding performances over many years with the club. His jersey retirement will be a fitting tribute to a player who made such a significant impact on the Wildcats and their supporters.

Between the excitement of Wildcats hockey and a special jersey retirement ceremony, next Saturday promises to be a memorable occasion that no Wildcats fan will want to miss.
